Employees of the US online Amazon store will demonstrate on Black Friday in many countries on Friday. This was reported by a partnership of trade unions around the world. According to the Dutch trade union FNV, wages, working hours and other working conditions are poor on Amazon. In addition, the workload is “huge”.

There is no strike in the Netherlands, but in countries like France and Italy. Demonstrations are also taking place in the United States, India and the United Kingdom. The company has approximately 1.3 million employees worldwide.

FNV will protest Friday at the shipyard in Alblasserdam, near Rotterdam, where the sailing yacht Jeff Bezos, founder of Amazon, is being built. “Bezos amassed his enormous wealth thanks to his employees but also at their expense,” says Michel Al, Director of FNV. “For us, this boat is a symbol of Amazon’s relentless growth.”

The Friday after Thanksgiving is known as Black Friday. Retailers outside the US are also trying to lure customers into their stores with competitive offers. Amazon also has a lot of deals on Black Friday every year.
