During the violent protests, the 54-year-old, who was wearing a jacket in the colors of the American flag and a hat emblazoned with the slogan “Florida for Trump,” pelted police with various objects, including planks and a fire extinguisher. He tried to storm the Capitol, but the guards pushed him back with pepper spray. In the meantime, he continued throwing at the items until he was hit by a rubber bullet.
handwritten letter
The fifty-year-old had apologized for the facts in a handwritten letter. He said Trump cheated on him, calling him an “authoritarian.” “I realized that we were lied to.” However, the prosecutor noted that the man defended his actions when he pleaded guilty in October. Therefore, federal judge Tanya Chutkan did not attach much value to the letter.
In all, more than 700 people are on trial for their role in the storming of the Capitol after Trump was defeated in the election.
