With a sweet Christmas story in mind, Dutchman Nick Keman recently boarded a plane bound for Albuquerque. In the American city, the BMX rider met the commissioner of the track with whom he collided at the Olympic Games in Tokyo.
His Olympic dream seemed to be over: Nick Keeman, 25, crashed into a transit official in Tokyo during a training session and fractured his knee.
But the Dutchman endured the pain and was crowned the BMX Olympic champion three days later. Official Michel Donovan was less fortunate: he was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
The track commissioner made a full recovery from his injuries and was visited 4 months later by the Olympic champion.
“It’s been a crazy experience for both of us this summer, but we’re so glad we were able to share our stories and end a special year in this way,” Keiman wrote on Twitter.
Nice script for a Christmas movie.
