During the Christmas holidays we offer you a bicycle race almost every day. Next stop is Azencross in Loenhout. Follow the third round of the X²O Cup here with text and photos.
Kempenzoon Toon Aerts leads a home game in Loenhout. He’s back for the first time since 2018 – when he came third. Last year there was no cross, in 2019 he was at home with broken ribs.
The Baloise-Trek leader looks ahead: “Azencross is a race I would like to put my finger on, but probably not for tomorrow.”
“I’ve already started beeping once which is pretty cool. The swamp circuit can only play for Wout van Aert.”
He’s not top of the X²O Cup standings, Aerts is. “The start is going to be very important,” he says. “I want to collect the seconds in the average sprint and thus gain some distance from the competition.”
The track is really very nice. Something really for Wout van Aert.

We stop Thursday in Loenhout to enter round three of the X²O Trophy cyclo-cross. Azencross is a classic. Just think of the washbasin and the thousands of visitors.
