After Moderna Vaccine Reaction Old BCG Vaccination Scar


As of October, Lareb Side Effects Center has received eleven reports of a reaction to a BCG scar following a Moderna vaccination.

Vaccination with the Moderna (Spikevax) vaccine can cause redness and swelling on the scar at the puncture site of the old Bacillus Calmette Guerin (BCG) vaccine.

BCG scar reaction
The scar often occurs after BCG vaccination. This scar can cause a new reaction. Then it becomes red and swollen. Sometimes there is a blister or crusts. The size of this inflammatory response is usually about 1 to 2 cm.
Reactions from this scar are known symptoms of Kawasaki disease. It also occurs after infections such as measles, “sixth disease” and influenza vaccination

As of October, Lareb Side Effects Center has received eleven reports of a reaction to a BCG scar following a Moderna vaccination. Reactions have been reported after the first and second vaccinations. None of the patients reported that this reaction occurred after the two vaccinations. The scar reaction occurred between 1 and 9 days after vaccination. Three people recovered within 4 to 15 days. The others had not recovered at the time of the report.
