All-new Club Brugge coach Alfred Schroeder arrives for winter training in Marbella and is already waiting for his first fire baptism tomorrow

49-year-old Alfred Schroeder has been Ronald Koeman’s assistant at Barcelona this season, but had to leave in October with the head coach. He gained his only experience as head coach at Twente (2014-2015) and Hoffenheim (2019-2020).

Schroeder has also worked at Twente as an assistant under Michel Preudome and at Hoffenheim under Julian Nagelsmann, the current coach of Bayern Munich. In 2018-2019, Schroeder was an assistant to Erik ten Hag during Ajax’s fantastic year in the Champions League.

Recently, Swiss club Basel tried to get Schroeder, but that did not work. Meanwhile, Schroeder has arrived in Marbella to run winter training.

In addition to Schroeder, Daniel Zinkowicz and Carlo Lamy come to Bruges. Zinkowicz was recently second in Werder Bremen of Germany. Prior to that, the 34-year-old Austrian was also active in the Ajax youth academy. Lamy is a substitute for goalkeeper Frederic de Boiver. Lamy was a goalkeeper coach at Ajax for 13 years. They also sign an indefinite contract. Rick de Mill, who led training yesterday, can once again focus on Club NXT’s promises.

As Clement prepares for his first match against Nantes on Sunday, Schroeder has to work for his next match in the competition, next Saturday at home against STVV. The unofficial baptism of fire is already for Tuesday, with a training match against German second-division team Karlsruer.
