Charleroi and AA Gent keep each other on balance in a poor match, as there was a lot at stake

Charleroi vs AA Gent was a match where there was a lot at stake. After all, the fifth and sixth in the Jupiler Pro League both counted 35 points before the start and both had to win to stay behind in the top four. Only… it wasn’t obvious. Slow, sloppy and barely aggressive intent. It seems that both teams do not want to lose.

At AA Gent, Gianni Bruno was the only real striker in the starting lineup. Tsudale is still in the African Cup with Morocco and Depute is not fit yet. Malidi was unable to impress last week and Mboyo missed out on the choice. He then joined Bruno Holsager up front, while Castro Montes took the lead in midfield. That was also a mystery in Charleroi. But the best chance in the second half was for the same Zarouri. Polat had to be alert for his attempt to float off target. Finally, Ghent also did not receive a penalty after a strong interference from Bitkevicius in the round of 16. The striker flew wildly and had no ball, but hit Norio. Once again Vergoote saw no problem and thus stayed 0-0 after a poor game for both teams. By one point, Charleroi and Ghent got absolutely nothing. It remains three points from fourth-placed Anderlecht, who still has to play KV Mechelen on Sunday.
