List: Ten countries with the most beautiful scenery in the world | To travel

The people behind the British comparison site Money.co.uk have compiled a list of countries that are ‘naturally’ the most beautiful.

Beauty is certainly subjective; What looks good to one visitor may not be so great to another. Therefore, it is good to know that the rankings are compiled based on the existing data.

Researchers have simply calculated where and how many volcanoes, mountains, corals, and other natural gems are found in a particular country. The number of protected areas in the country was also examined.

Countries were eventually ranked by calculating how many beautiful objects could be found per 100,000 square kilometers.

Indonesia

With more than 17,000 islands, 147 volcanoes, countless world-famous coral reefs and rainforests and more than 50,000 kilometers of coastline, Indonesia tops the list.

Indonesia’s most famous natural attractions include the tropical forests of Sumatra and Kalimantan (including the Orangutan Sanctuary) and many UNESCO World Heritage Sites such as Komodo National Park.

New Zealand is in second place for its impressive mountain ranges and numerous national parks.

The country has a large number of glaciers (more than 5,000 per 100,000 sq km) and more than 15,000 sq km of coastline.

Mitter Peak in Fierland National Park on the South Island is one of the most beautiful places in New Zealand.

Third place goes to Colombia, with its unique nature: from the Amazon rainforest to the Andes Mountains and the Caribbean coast. Colombia is also home to 500,000 square kilometers of tropical forests.
