Nothing is louder than silence: Armani supports Ukraine with stunning fashion show | Nina

“I chose not to use the music on the show as a sign of respect for all the people involved in the tragedy currently unfolding in Ukraine.” With these words, Giorgio Armani (87 years old) opened the presentation of his fall-winter collection at Milan Fashion Week. The only sounds that could then be heard during the show were the footsteps of the models and the applause of the audience.

Music is an important element of fashion shows, which designers have traditionally used to express a certain atmosphere and emotion in their creations. But Armani proved on Sunday that silence can be louder than any music. There are many positive reactions to the designer’s statement on social media. “Very well, Mr. Armani! The world cannot remain indifferent to what is happening in Ukraine ”, this is stated in one of the comments at the bottom of the post. Another replied “Thank you for the support”.

So Armani is the first fashion house at Milan Fashion Week to take advantage of its show Russia’s invasion of Ukraine Lyden. “What can I do? I didn’t want the music to be shown. The best thing would be to send a signal that we are not happy and to admit that something upsetting happened,” the designer told Vogue afterwards.
