Heavy fire in an old English factory: more than 100 firefighters on site

A fire broke out at an old factory in Keele, West Yorkshire, on Thursday. The intense fire was accompanied by black plumes of smoke. Nobody will be injured. More than 100 firefighters are on site to fight the fire. The Dalton Mills Factory is a well-known filming location where series such as Peaky Blinders or Downton Abbey were filmed.

The great fire broke out in downtown Keighley shortly before noon. Firefighters immediately rushed to the site to fight the big hell at Dalton Mills Factory. The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) said that twenty auto pumps and more than 100 firefighters were at the scene. No one was reported injured in the fire.

The fire is accompanied by a thick black plume of smoke. So neighbors are asked to keep windows and doors closed and ventilation shut off.

Built in 1869, the mill was once the largest textile mill in Yorkshire and employed over 2,000 people. In recent years, various film crews have settled in the Victorian building to record well-known series such as Peaky Blinders, Downton Abbey or The Great Train Robbery. Also in 2011, a fire broke out in the factory, most likely when copper thieves tried to move.†
