Beginning of technical maintenance in public spaces at De Boei in Zierikzee | World news from your area

In 2021, the Kunstwacht began to maintain all municipal art, cultural and historical objects in public spaces on behalf of the municipality of Schouwen-Duiveland. The municipal council has allocated an annual maintenance budget of 20,000 euros for the period 2021-2024.

Sixty historical and cultural artifacts are scattered throughout the public space in Schoen Devland. The municipal collection includes statues, memorials, artwork, and historical objects such as water pumps and anchors. On Thursday 10 March, the four-year maintenance period will be officially launched by Alderman Jacqueline van Burg (livable) in De Boei at the ‘t Luitje/Nieuwe Haven intersection in Zierikzee. Boei, made in 1965, is the so-called howler buoy and is the last complete buoy in the Netherlands. De Boei was first located on Kraanplein in Zierikzee, but was given a new spot in connection with the redesign of Kraanplein in 2015/2016. An extensive maintenance of the buoy is scheduled and will be taken care of by the Kunstwacht on March 10th.

Kunstwacht BV specializes in the conservation and restoration of works of art, culture and history.
