Viva Padel, Padel’s project for singer and presenter Niels Destadsbader, is the new tenant of the municipal sites in Liersesteenweg. There will be eight new paddling fields, changing rooms, and a canteen. The football club FC De Weerdt also maintains a stadium there and can use the new property.

The project attracted the attention of the local green department in November because the trees had already been cut down at a time when the cutting permit had not yet been issued. Misunderstanding, Viva Badel then explained. Immediately pledged to compensate trees – often sick -.

Groen Berlaar was involved in the consultation on this compensation, with Niels Destadsbader and the municipality also looking for a solution. “We also want the environment of the new Badil Club to be as green as possible. There is no longer room on the Liersesteenweg site to make up for another 211 trees. These 211 trees will be planted on the newly purchased land in the natal forest of Legrellestraat. They will be trees of a reasonable size, so that a beautiful orchard can quickly arise. These are original specimens of different species that serve as an extension of the original forest.

Green environmental consultants, Bernd van Ransbeek and Koen Keremans, say they are “very happy” with the solution. Fancier FC De Weerdt soccer team is particularly pleased that the proverbial shovel hits the ground. Their dilapidated housing is being replaced with new infrastructure, which they can also use with the Badel Club. “We are so grateful for the new changing rooms. As an enthusiast’s association, we get a new breath,” says Wim Waters, president of FCD Werdt.

The members are already dismantling the old club buildings step by step. “On March 26th we will play our last game and then we will have one last party.
