The Netherlands national team and Senegal will start the World Cup on November 21, at the request of American television and the Qatar Football Association. The FIFA World Football Association announced this to KNVB on Saturday.
The host country often takes the first step in the World Cup. But Qatar will not play during the day because the big fireworks around the opening ceremony will be less visible. Because of the time difference with Qatar, American television wants the United States to act as late as possible on November 21st. The Netherlands national team and Senegal will now start the World Cup on November 21 at 11 am Belgian time.
The match between England and Iran from Group B will start at 2 pm, followed by Qatar and Ecuador, like the Orange and Senegal teams, at 5 pm. The first day of the World Cup will end at 8pm with matches between USA and Wales, Ukraine or Scotland from Group B.
