Red Flames have no problem with Albania and stay on the Norwegian route

The Red Flames beat Albania 0-5 in Elbos on Thursday, the seventh day of qualifying for the 2023 World Cup in Australia and New Zealand (July 20 – August 20, 2023). The Belgian football women are second in their group.

The Flames took a while to find a start, but ten minutes before the break, national coach Eves Cherniels’ players took the lead. Dyne de Keigny (37) was hit in the head by a cross from Dilos. De Geckney converted a cross from Tessa Wullert (39.) two minutes later with a header. Before the break, De Geigny (43.) took a 0-3 lead. Ten minutes into the second half, Wollard (56.) won 0-4, and the hunger of the Belgian players was not yet contained. Substitute Jassina Blom (79.) recorded the final score at 0-5, again scoring a header.

The Red Flames are currently second in Group F with 16 points from 21, following President Norway (19 points). The group winner will qualify directly for the World Cup and play in the second play-off. The Belgian football women have never qualified for the World Cup, but they will play in the European Championship this summer (July 6-31 in England) for the second time since 2017.
