Verstappen expects a tough race in Austin

Max Verstappen already has the world title in his pocket, but that doesn’t mean he’s going to take it easy. He’ll be in the hunt again this weekend in Austin. Verstappen is looking forward to it, but says it will be another tough race weekend.

Two weeks ago, Verstappen became the Formula 1 world champion for the third consecutive season. He has nothing to lose in Austin, but the Dutchman will be looking for a good result. He could tie his own record for most wins in a season, and he could add to his points tally. With another sprint race scheduled, he could score a lot of points.

Either way, the Circuit of the Americas is the most popular race among teams and drivers. Verstappen is also looking forward to it, as he said in his preview: “I’m looking forward to racing in Austin this weekend, we have many special memories as a team. The atmosphere at COTA is like no other circuit, there are always lots of Red Bull fans cheering us on.”

Sprint

For the second race weekend in a row, a sprint race is also on the schedule. Verstappen is now aware of the potential pitfalls of this concept: “Of course it’s a sprint weekend. It means it will be very hectic for us again, because we only have one session to find the optimal balance in the car. I also note that we will have to deal with high temperatures, so I expect another difficult race. I look forward to it.”
