Ticket sales will begin on Tuesday 5 December (11am) via the 1895 Fan Club for the Red Devils’ European Championship matches next year in Germany.

All Fan Club members receive a code with which they can purchase one ticket for one or more matches in the group stage. Anyone can still sign up in 1895. But the longer you’re a member (and especially: the more games you attend), the greater the chance of getting a ticket.

Tickets for the group stage (10,000 tickets per match) will be sold in four stages, based on a classification determined by the number of matches fans have already attended. “This is how KBVB rewards its loyal supporters,” she says. Fans can still become members of the 1895 Fan Club. They enter the final stage of ticket sales, in which ticket availability depends on sales in previous stages.​

If the Red Devils qualify for the second round, ticket sales will open after the last group match. Here too, priority will be given to the most loyal supporters.

Anyone who is not only interested in Red Devils tickets can visit the UEFA website. As of December 4, there will be 1 million tickets available. The third round will be held next year once the remaining three countries qualify through the qualifiers.

During the first sales period in October, when only the dates and host cities were known, 1.2 million tickets had already been sold. Ticket prices range from 30 euros (group match) to 1000 euros. The most expensive ticket is for the final.

The draw will determine where the Red Devils will play their matches. As a seed, they could end up in five groups (since host nation Germany will almost certainly start in Group A.) UEFA assigns a group to each country (A, B, C, D, E or F), and within each group there Then there are four places (1, 2, 3 and 4). Red Devils can be set from B1 to F4. So, in total, they could end up in twenty different slots.

Fans will be pleased if the Red Devils play their matches close to the Belgian border. The good news: Chances are this is the case. Four of the ten host cities are within an hour or two drive of the Belgian border: Cologne, Düsseldorf, Gelsenkirchen and Dortmund.

Only on four of the twenty holes (B2, C2, D2 and F4) will the Belgians play all their group stage matches at a long distance from our country (more than three hours by car). Eight places are linked to one group match close to the border, while the other eight places guarantee two group matches close to home. That means: approximately a 40% chance of playing one home match, and a 40% chance of playing two group stage matches near Belgium.

The ideal position would be “C4”. With group matches in Gelsenkirchen, Frankfurt and Cologne. Winning Group C means the road to the final will pass through the nearby cities of Gelsenkirchen, Düsseldorf and Dortmund.

At this time, the Belgian FA has not yet chosen a base camp. They will not do this until after the draw is made.

The Red Devils are in Pot 1 of the draw, facing opponents from Pot 2, Pot 3 and Pot 4.

The bowl layout looks like this:

Pot 1: Germany, Portugal, France, Spain, Belgium, England.

Pot 2: Türkiye, Denmark, Hungary, Albania, Romania and Austria.

Pot 3: Scotland, Slovenia, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Netherlands, Croatia.

Bowl 4*: Serbia, Italy, Switzerland, winner of play-offs 1, 2, 3

*The remaining three teams come from the European Championship qualifiers to be held in 2024. Qualifiers: Bosnia and Herzegovina, Estonia, Finland, Georgia, Greece, Iceland, Israel, Kazakhstan, Luxembourg, Poland, Ukraine, Wales.

Unlike European club football, UEFA only looks at the results of qualifying series to seed the draw for the 2024 European Championship.

Interestingly, Pot 2 contains many countries that on paper belong in Pot 3 or 4, while Pots 3 and 4 contain countries that should be in a higher pot based on quality alone.

Therefore, Belgium could be in a group that includes Denmark, the Netherlands and Italy. This is pretty much the worst case scenario. It is also possible that a draw will be held in which the Red Devils will complete the group stage against Albania, Slovenia and Luxembourg.

Numbers 1 and 2 and the best four numbers 3 from each group will qualify for the 16th round of the 2024 European Championship after the group stage.

There are four pots each containing six countries. The seeds (including the Red Devils) are in Pot 1. Pot seeding is determined based on a country’s performance in the European Championship qualifiers. Therefore, FIFA or UEFA rankings do not play any role.

During the draw, the six seeds are first divided into the six groups. They are also assigned a number from 1 to 4. In this way, it is determined which country will host the home team, when the match will be played and – especially – in which stadium the match will be played (see topic below: “Where will the Devils play in Germany?”).

Germany is the only country that actually knows which group it will end up in. The host nation starts in Pool A in position 1. Next, countries are drawn from Pot 2 and divided among the six groups. The same thing happens with bowl 3 and bowl 4.

Saturday 2 December at 6pm The draw will last approximately one hour and will take place in Hamburg. Interim CEO Manu Leroy will be present at the Belgian Football Association.
