Managers of the Ghanaian aid organization for people living with HIV and AIDS are guilty of sexual abuse and corruption. This was announced by the Global Fund, an international fund that subsidizes the Ghanaian organization.
The case was investigated by the World Bank after reports of abuse in the NAP + Ghana system. It showed that executives abused their power and perpetuated a culture of sexual and financial exploitation. A statement (.pdf).
“Many executives demanded that patients engage in sexual activity or pay bribes in exchange for help,” the researchers write. Among other things, they make their decision based on dozens of pieces of evidence.
‘Disgusted’
These abuses took place between 2010 and 2019, and there would have been at least ten culprits. The report contains the response of five of them. One person pleads guilty to corruption and all other allegations contradict each other.
The Sands director of the Global Fund says the behavior is disgusting. The fund says it will take action to prevent these types of things in the future.

The Global Fund is a Geneva – based organization that fights diseases such as AIDS, malaria and tuberculosis. Most of the money comes from national governments.
