China has imposed sanctions on two Americans who condemned US Secretary of State Anthony Blingen’s conduct of Beijing’s Uyghurs on Saturday as “unsubstantiated”. In his view, this draws more attention to the “genocide” in Xinjiang.

Blingen said in a statement that Beijing ‘s efforts to intimidate and silence those who speak out for human rights and fundamental freedoms would increase international criticism of the ongoing genocide and crimes against humanity in Xinjiang.
