Press Release – More library space

This is good news for the Rijn en Venen library branches in Roelofarendsveen and Leimuiden; These remain open. A third library branch could also be opened in Woubrugge, provided there are enough volunteers and a suitable location. In recent years, residents, organizations and volunteers have successfully advocated for the importance of the library in Kaag-en-Brasim.

The municipality of Kaag en Braassem also released a budget to strengthen the basic functions of the library in the municipality. In particular, they are the continuous reading line in IKCs, which are courses to support residents with digital skills and activities in Maakplaats.

By adopting the council's proposal, it was also agreed that the library can continue to operate at this new level in the coming years. In case of inflation, it will be indexed.

The contemporary library is much more than just a collection of books and an essential partner for education. The library is a living room where everyone is welcome, whether they are members or not. It is a place where people come together to get inspired and help each other, for example, with the Dutch language, digital skills or government affairs. There is actually a lot to do at the library in Roelofarendsveen and Leimuiden. You can read more about this in the agenda at bibliotheekrijnenvenen.nl.
