Scott Williams threw the dream poster of the World Darts Championship semi-final between tournament favorites Luke Humphries and Michael van Gerwen into the bin on Monday. The world number 52 was in the form of his life and was hoping to show that against Luke Humphries.
But Humphreys has already shown his high level in this World Cup. “Cool Hand Luke” had won three of the last four Grand Slams and was expected to be the man to beat at this World Cup. This was highlighted again on Tuesday evening.
With a brilliant performance that didn't give poor Williams a chance. Humphreys immediately grabbed 'Shaggy' by the throat and with an average of nearly 109, no less than 6 finishes above 100 and also 14 180, stormed into the whitewash 6-0 up.
Humphreys qualified for the World Darts Championship final for the first time in his career. He will compete against teenager Luke Littler, who defeated former world champion Rob Cross. Humphries also secured the top spot in the world rankings, which he stole from outgoing world champion Michael Smith.
