Lous and Yakuza singer reveal MS diagnosis: 'I hope people take courage from my story' | B.V

Marie-Peira Kakuma rose to fame in 2019 with her debut single “Dilemme”, which she debuted under the music project Lous and the Yakuza. Since then she has built a successful career as a musician and model. She was born in Congo, but her parents disinherited her because of her musical dream. Kakuma decided to leave the Congo and flee to Brussels. There she spent the first months on the street.

After some successes on home soil, it also attracted attention at the international level. As a model, she has already walked in the fashion shows of Louis Vuitton, Vogue and Chloe. Musically, she signed a recording contract with Roc Nation, which also includes Jay-Z. She even appeared as a guest with Jimmy Fallon on his popular talk show on American television.

On Wednesday evening, she revealed on her Instagram account that she has been suffering from multiple sclerosis for some time. After releasing her album at the end of 2022, she said that she woke up suffering from symptoms of paralysis in her legs. Thanks to the Millsbrook MS Center team, she was able to complete her concert tour. “I hope people take courage from my story,” she wrote in the video, in which she recalls that turbulent year.
