Expanded and frozen
The French government wants to use subsidies to ensure that low-income people also start driving electric cars. This turned out to be a great success, because much more subsidies were provided than were saved. That's why the government is still adding more money, even though the end is in sight.
In France, you are eligible for an electric car subsidy this year if your annual income is €15,400 or less. French people who fall into this group can rent an electric car for a maximum of 150 euros per month through the subsidy. In some cases, the monthly rental amount is much less than 100 euros. For example, a Citroën ë-C3 can be driven for €54 per month. The dilemma: You still have to pay for the insurance yourself and sign a lease for at least three years. All in all, it is certainly attractive enough for tens of thousands of French people, because the 20,000 budgeted subsidized rental contracts turned out to be woefully inadequate.
The French government has allocated 1.5 billion euros for the 20,000 support requests, but is now working again to increase its budget to be able to accept up to 50,000 requests. That reports Reuters. However, requests for support will be finalized for the rest of the year, and the French government has reported that people still fishing behind nets will only have a chance again next year. Priority has been given (and will soon be given) to people who need a vehicle for transportation when processing support requests.
As mentioned, for example, a Citroën ë-C3 under this construction can be rented for 54 euros per month, for example the Fiat 500e, Opel Corsa Electric and Peugeot e-208 go for 89 euros per month and for the Peugeot e-2008 you are losing 149 euros per month. Cars such as the Renault Megane E-tech Electric and Citroën ë-C4 can also be rented for less than €150 for low-income Frenchmen. Electric cars that were responsible for a lot of emissions during their production, for example due to production in China, are not eligible. For example, the Dacia Spring is excluded and the Tesla Model 3 is not included either.
