NASA is looking for candidates to test what life would be like on Mars. But the requirements are very strict: to begin with, only Americans can participate in the tests.
Why is this important?
Now that rocket technology is becoming more perfect, exploration on Mars seems to be getting closer. However, living conditions are very different than on Earth. This is why it is necessary to test whether it is wise to send people. In the news: NASA's Crew Health and Performance Exploration Analog (CHAPEA 2) mission is supposed to give a picture of life on Mars.
- Starting in the spring of 2025, four people will enter a 3D-printed environment measuring approximately 160 square meters at NASA's main base in Houston. There, life on Mars is simulated. Research is being done on how to grow food or what space walking would be like. The mission lasts one year.
- There is currently a crew present for the CHAPEA 1 project. They are in the middle of their lifespan. Things are difficult: living conditions are not easy. The position is paid, but NASA will not specify the exact amount.
the details: Admission requirements are not minimum.
- To get started, NASA is only looking for U.S. citizens between the ages of 30 and 55 to participate in CHAPEA 2. They must have a master's degree in a science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) field, as well as at least two years of work experience in the field.
- Furthermore, at least 1,000 flight hours as a pilot or two years of doctoral work in a STEM field are also determinants.
- Interested parties can register at NASA website An impressive questionnaire is presented. “Are you willing to have no contact for a year except with your crew members, with a maximum delay of 20 minutes?” and “Are you willing to undergo extensive cognitive, mathematical, and behavioral testing?” Giving an idea of what to expect.
