Domenico Tedesco is clearly taking the friendlies against Ireland and England seriously, as the Red Devils national coach only had one place for one player for the first time. Or will he still give his chance to someone else?
As the only newcomer in the 25-man squad, Kone de Winter will be hoping to win his first international cap. There are already opportunities for the Genoa defender in central defence, as the flow there remains rather weak for Tedesco.
Beans for Spillers
Perhaps it shouldn't be entirely surprising that Jorn Spillers suddenly appeared on the practice field on Wednesday. The 19-year-old Club Brugge defender was even allowed to sit on the bench for the national team at the end of last year.
Although Wout Faes and Thomas Meunier, among others, joined the training as well as De Winter, Tedesco apparently wanted to see him in action again. So he seems to have a soft spot for Spillers somewhere.
…and English?
In addition, another young demon was allowed to show off his skills with the big boys, because Arne Ingels was also present. However, the competition for his position is much tougher for the 20-year-old Augsburg midfielder.
Even without Kevin De Bruyne, Albert Sambi Lukunga, Hans Vanakken and several other international candidates have been left out. Is Club Brugge's youth product already higher than them in the Tedesco pecking order?
