Primoz Roglic skips the Ardennes Classics: “The focus is on his recovery for the Tour”

Primoz Roglic will not be at the start of Flèche Wallonne and Liège-Bastogne-Liège. The Bora-Hansgrohe leader is still recovering after his fall in the Tour of the Basque Country. “He wants to get back on his bike next week to train, but we have removed the Ardennes races from the programme.”

Primoz Roglic started the Tour of the Basque Country in excellent form by winning the time trial, but was involved in two crashes later in the week. He then posted a telling photo on Instagram of his abrasions.

So the Bora-Hansgrohe rider opted for a full recovery first. So he will not ride in Flèche Wallonne and Liège-Bastogne-Liège next week.

He wants to train on the bike again next week, but then towards his big goal this summer: the Tour de France.

“Roglic has been treated all week for his injuries and his knee,” says the team's Dan Lorange. “We now want to give his body time to fully recover. The big goal remains the Tour.”
