CH3F NL rolls the credits #29 – The Remnant 2: The Forgotten Kingdom (DLC)

The game backlog is overflowing! Heaps of games I started but didn’t finish. Things will change in 2024! Your New Year’s resolution is to complete games more often and let the credits roll like never before. If the counter doesn’t have at least 40 completed games by the end of 2024, the first round during the XBNL Community BBQ will be my responsibility!

Remnant 2 will be released in the summer of 2023. This Soul-like shooter was on our Top 5 Games of the Year list in 2023. In an XBNL review, Matthew wrote the following about it:Remnant II shines with its unique and beautifully designed worlds, unforgiving shooting action and many different ways in which the game can be played and experienced. We highly recommend this game to players looking for a soulful experience in the shooting game genre!‘.

Gunfire Games continues to receive strong support long after its release. In total, at least three new DLC will be released. With the Forgotten Kingdom we come to the second part. And what kind!

What type of game is in the Remnant 2: The Forgotten Kingdom DLC?

Remnant 2 is a Soul-like shooting game that is the sequel to the popular game Remnant: From the Ashes. In this game, the survivors of humanity face new deadly creatures and divine bosses. You can play Remnant 2 alone or with two friends. The gameplay consists largely of challenging shooting action, combined with exploration, environmental puzzles, and of course building a building that belongs to the archetype (class) you’re playing as.

In the second DLC, The Forgotten Kingdom, players will search for the lost history of the Yaesha tribe while encountering an ancient stone spirit named Lydusa. The DLC introduces a new story, new dungeons, new areas, and a new archetype called “The Invocer”. New weapons and items have also been added to the DLC.

The DLC plays great. Within 6-7 hours of play, I was able to see everything from the DLC with Matthew. There are many bosses to defeat. The bosses look terrible and the gameplay is a great challenge, just like in the base game, but doable with some persistence. The world in which this DLC takes place is beautiful and the new archetype is one you’ll definitely want to experience.

Credits

Remnant 2 is a great game, as you’ve already read in our review. The developers have managed to surprise again with this second DLC. With a beautiful world, fantastic challenging shooting action, new weapons and an archetype, this DLC is definitely worth playing until the end of the credits.
