Will we ban fast food chains? Diabetes professor Hanno Bijl does not say in so many words that it should be done, but he points it out in one word Interview for number: “This is a big change, but to prevent all these diseases, something has to change.” It’s a reaction to it A message from the Diabetes Fund Earlier this week it was reported that more than 1.4 million people in our country have an increased risk of developing type 2 diabetes.
Biegel was right when he said that Dutch people are constantly being led in the wrong direction in the society we live in now. In fact, there are many things that make it difficult for us to live a healthy life. But the fact that we encounter unhealthy foods everywhere is only part of the story. Banning all unhealthy food offerings does nothing to solve the problems of people who don’t need them due to poor living conditions (unemployment, debt, having to work two jobs to make ends meet – you know the examples and you can complete the list yourself) come to making healthy choices.
The fact that we encounter unhealthy foods everywhere is only part of the story
Not to mention the fact that healthy food would suddenly not become affordable if the supply of unhealthy food disappeared. Or the fact that the government lacks the courage to ban certain consumer goods through legislation (just ask Wanda de Kanter) or make healthy consumption more affordable. Moreover, it is in people’s nature to believe that they have the right to live the life they choose, even if that life is unhealthy.
We look and feel unhealthy.
