Portugal ended its preparations for Euro 2024 with a victory over Ireland. Cristiano Ronaldo has attracted attention: at the age of 39, he has increased his number of goals for Portugal to 130. The two roses he scored against Ireland – one with his left hand – were particularly impressive.
Will there be some wear and tear on Cristiano Ronaldo’s body in Saudi Arabia? Even at the age of 39, the Portuguese star continues to score, but what do those goals mean in the desert?
Just before the European Championships, Ronaldo once again responded to the doubters. Portugal battled Ireland tonight and the star player proved he is still the tournament’s front-runner.
Joao Felix scored the opening goal after 15 minutes, and in the second half Ronaldo stole the show as usual.
It was a brilliant 2-0. The assumption was flawless, and after several feints he drew the ball beautifully with his left hand.
The person is not one, Ronaldo knows better than anyone else. An hour later, he scored another goal, his 130th international goal for Portugal.
Once again, his left foot provided a brilliant evening: 3-0 went right into the net.
This result also became the final result. “It doesn’t matter who scores, we just wanted to gain confidence,” the match-winner said.
He added, “Our fans expect a lot and there is no big margin for error. It is natural for them to expect us to win everything when you look at this generation and all the talent.”
“We have to keep our feet on the ground, but at the same time you can dream of football heaven,” the captain concluded.
