Kasper Schmeichel played for RSC Anderlecht last season. It remains to be seen whether Denmark’s national goalkeeper will remain on board at Lotto Park.
Kasper Schmeichel was drawn to RSC Anderlecht last summer, although there was a lot of criticism at the time because the Purple & White had already signed a powerful new goalkeeper in Maxime Dupé.
Not long after, Dobe disappeared from the goal, Schmeichel became Anderlecht’s undisputed number one player, and Dobe left again during the winter transfer window, towards Nice.
Schmeichel had a one-season contract at Lotto Park that expires in ten days. He spoke to reporters at the European Championship in Germany on Thursday, in anticipation of facing England.
It is no coincidence, because Schmeichel played his entire career in England. A Danish journalist asked if Schmeichel misses English football, after which a strong hint about the goalkeeper’s future was given.
He added: “For me, English football is the best. “Of course I love playing in England. This is the kind of football I grew up with, still watch and still love. Maybe one day I will return. “I miss playing there.”
