Alpecin-Deceuninck’s homework for the tour was also completed. Jasper Philipsen and world champion Mathieu van der Poel once again headline the Belgian WorldTour squad that won the green jersey last year. Jonas Rijkaert joined the team despite falling in the Belgian championship.
Jasper Philipsen can also count on Jonas Rijkaardt stepping up this year. The enemy pilot crashed yesterday at the Belgian Championships in Zottegem, but his round is not in danger. The race leader did not break his wrist and will participate again in the world’s largest cycling race.
