AA Gent start preparations with big win

AA Gent are starting a new era this season. Ivan de Wit, Michel Luage and Hein Vanhaezebrouck have left after many years, leaving the reins to owner Sam Barrow, technical director Arnar Vidarson and coach Wouter Franken. The latter was on the sidelines for the first time on Saturday.

After all, Vrancken made his unofficial debut as Ghent coach, where the Buffaloes played their first training match. They competed against their neighbours KFC Merelbeke who play in the second national team. It was an easy win for the visitors.

AA Gent took a loss in the first match

In the first half, Francken assembled a strong team with Watanabe, De Sart and Kums, but two young strikers dominated the team. After all, it was Sordes and Fernandez Pardo who ensured the score was 0-2 midway through the first half. The Swiss was on target twice, and the young Belgian was on target each time.

Vrancken chose eleven new players in the second half. They only managed to increase the score in the last quarter. Abdullah turned in a cross from Lagai to make it 0-3 and a few minutes later Gandelman also scored on the rebound.

Next mission is on Friday

In the last minute, a crowded Samoise managed to put the missing figures on the scoreboard, again with the help of Lagay. This means that Ghent is off to a good start in its preparation. The next task is scheduled to take place next Friday, when they face HO Kalken.
