Albenar qualified for the Ironman 70.3 World Championships in New Zealand.

Hoorn/Alphen – On Sunday, June 23rd, during the Ironman 70.3 Westfriesland, Michael van Hagen from Alphen put on an amazing performance. Thanks to his excellent performance, he has qualified for the World Championships in Taupo (New Zealand) in December.

Ironman 70.3, also known as Half Ironman, is a triathlon event consisting of a 1.9 kilometer swim, a 90 kilometer bike ride and a 21.1 kilometer run. The number 70.3 represents the total distance in miles the athletes must cover.

Ironman 70.3 Westfriesland, held in Huron, is known for its beautiful, fast and sometimes treacherous course.

The race starts with a swimming segment at the Markermeer, followed by a cycling route that takes the athletes through the beautiful landscape of West Friesland. The final part, the half marathon, winds through the historic streets of Hoor.

The Flying Dutchman Group

Maikel van Haagen is part of The Flying Dutchman Team. The guidance and training he receives from this team plays a major role in his success. With expert training from Alphen and Jan Gstrome, Maikel has taken his skills and endurance to a new level. “His knowledge, experience and support helped me get the best out of myself,” says Michael.

During the competition the athlete was supported by Mas and Wall supporters. Their loud encouragement and sure-footedness undoubtedly contributed to Michael’s success.
