Wouter Franken will be the coach of KAA Gent next season. The East Flemish club have now said goodbye to the striker once again.
KAA Gent’s attack has seen a lot of changes in the last six months. Hugo Kuipers, Malick Fofana and Gift Orban have already left in January. Laurent Depoitre’s contract has not been extended.
As a reinforcement, KAA Gent signed top Swedish talent Sonko for seven million euros last winter, and Andri Gudjohnsen has already been appointed this summer. In addition, youngster Abdallah has been transferred from Jong AA Gent.
Igbokwe leaves for Portugal
Meanwhile, the East Flemish club also bid farewell to Nigerian Goodluck Egbokwe after three years. With KAA Gent reserves he scored sixteen goals in 53 appearances for the senior national team.
But Igbokwe never got his chance with the first team. He only made it to the selection for the competition in KAA Gent once. That was in September 2023 in a Conference League match against Zorya Luhansk.
However, he did not make any appearances and Igbokwe will now seek his fortune in Portugal at Rio Ave. Igbokwe signed for two seasons and left KAA Gent on a free transfer.
