Everyone agrees that the Red Devils had a disappointing European Championship. While many football fans and pundits may not have immediately expected Belgium to appear in the final, the majority of fans believed they would go further than the eighth final, or at least play better football.

Unfortunately for the forces of national coach Domenico Tedesco, things went wrong for Belgium in the eighth finals. The Red Devils lost to France by the smallest margin about two weeks ago, and thus had to end badly in the Qatari tournament.

The disappointing European Championship now also has serious consequences for the national team. For example, FIFA has confirmed that Belgium has dropped to sixth place in the FIFA rankings. This is our country’s lowest ranking since 2017, when Belgium came close to winning a bronze medal at the World Cup in Russia.

The Red Devils have been at the top of the rankings for a long time since then, but have gradually fallen further and further. Before the European Championship they were still third. They now see that place taken by new European champions Spain. World champions Argentina are at the top of the world rankings.
