Capcom veteran wants to make a sequel to Okami

Hideki Kamiya, director of Resident Evil 2, Devil May Cry, Bayonetta, and more, wants to make a sequel to the stylish Okami game. Kamiya made the statement during a conversation with his former Capcom colleague Ikumi Nakamura.

During the conversation, Kamiya mentioned that he is currently “unemployed” after leaving Platinum Games’ “Action Wizards.” However, he has not given up on his life as a video game developer. That is why he has been looking forward to potential new projects. Although Kamiya admits that he “can’t do it alone.” He wants to connect with “friends who I can work well with.”

Nakamura, who also worked on Okami, took the hint and immediately asked if Kamiya wanted to “make a sequel to Okami”. The director noted that Okami was listed in a recent Capcom poll as one of the games players most wanted a sequel to. The game was “very high on the list”.

But he also believes it is his personal duty to develop a sequel. For example, he said that the story ended halfway through. Leaving it that way would make him feel bad. He truly believes that “developers should make sequels that fans absolutely want to see.” Regarding Okami, Kamiya feels that “his duty is not done yet.” That’s why he’s calling on Capcom to make a sequel together.
