Club Brugge lost to Union SG in the Super Cup, but the national champions look ready to start the new season. The newspaper Reports suggest that Nicky Hayen has a full set at his disposal.
The trio of Andreas Skov Olsen, Joel Ordonez and new signing Ardon Jashari have been included in the Club Brugge squad. The trio have been given leave until July 21 due to their international commitments at the European Championship and Copa America.
Completely complete
Hayen’s selection will be finalised before the competition starts. But that doesn’t mean the squad is completely fit. Skov Olsen, Ordonez and Jashari are not expected to play yet against KV Mechelen, and even Standard will arrive very early on the second matchday.
Skov Olsen in particular is a problem. The winger suffered from a lot of injuries last season, and Club Brugge want to be careful about the physical condition of the Danish international. Red Devil Maxim De Cuyper did join last week, but he was not yet in the Super Cup selection.
Injuries
De Kuyper is expected to feature in the first match of the competition as full-backs Björn Meijer and Kirani Sapp are still recovering from injury. Club Brugge are also still working on the Hugo Secket file.
The right-back should be Club Brugge’s next signing for $1 million. Secket played on loan at Cercle Brugge last season but is under contract with Freiburg in Germany.
