Microsoft to discontinue Paint 3D on November 4 – Computer – News

I completely agree with you that this is the sensible approach (go online and use the most appropriate software), but I don’t think everyone thinks this way.

I may not be telling you anything new yet I am writing this reply because you say you don’t understand why so much junk is included as standard (I could also say something like that because I don’t understand it somehow either :-)). I think a lot of users really choose to stick with the standard apps on their smartphone or PC. But I know a lot of people who say “it just has to be included in such a device”.

The reasons for not searching online are varied. For example, I’ve heard that people don’t have the time or desire to delve into the best software to download, and sometimes they don’t even know where to start. Others may also find it a bit intimidating and confusing. How do you, as a normal person, know that you’re not installing a virus? Naturally, you won’t easily find these types of users on Tweakers.net. Microsoft probably knows very well who the different groups of users are, and may have consciously chosen to continue producing these types of (resource-intensive) apps. At the same time, I myself (sometimes) don’t understand why it’s not possible to have a vertical taskbar in Windows 11 (without installing other apps), but according to Microsoft, this group was such a minority (less than 2%) that they didn’t think it was worth the effort to build it.
