In our summer out-of-office segment, a Limburg business manager reveals some secrets not directly related to his business activities… This edition (10): Dieter Valkenborgh, owner and manager of Valkenborgh Swimming Pools, which is frequented in Kiewit.
1. Which artist are you queuing up for tickets for?
As for artists, I don’t necessarily need to be first in line to buy tickets for a particular artist. I’m not a huge fan of a particular artist, but enjoy the festival atmosphere in general. For me, the real charm of a festival lies in strolling around the festival grounds, seeing acquaintances and friends and enjoying the unique atmosphere.
2. What dishes and drinks can they serve if you are the birthday boy?
If I were the birthday boy, they would certainly serve a feast with a nice red meat; From a farm store like Best Ranch Beef Boutique. Served with fresh béarnaise sauce; Fries and a nice glass of red wine or a fresh Stella Artois complete it!
3. Where would you send tourists looking to discover something beautiful in your area?
I would definitely recommend a tourist to visit De Platvigers in Sonnhoven. I think it’s a beautiful natural reserve that many people in and around Hasselt have yet to discover. The Platvigers is a swampy area with a large number of ponds, reed beds and grasslands. One can walk peacefully there for hours.
4. Who are you sure you’re going to call on the phone at 3 in the morning?
I will always be there for my family and friends; But I always respond to clients in emergencies. For example, customers have already called because a horse fell into their swimming pool or the basement pool was empty…
5. What programmatic point should a politician who wants your vote realize?
Reducing social security contributions and tax burden would be a great start!
6. In which holiday destination would you happily spend 14 days of quarantine?
No doubt New Zealand. I’ve been there with my wife Caroline and it’s the most beautiful country I’ve ever been to. The nature is unprecedentedly pure and diverse, making it the perfect place to spend 14 days in isolation.
7. Which restaurant would you dare to switch to for dinner?
Then I definitely choose Tafelaer in Kermat. This is a great restaurant, especially for meat lovers. The menu carefully offers especially high-quality meat dishes. A warm, welcoming atmosphere and gentle service complete the experience.
8. What TV show (or other show) can we attribute your guilt to?
I rarely watch TV, but one series I love is Yellowstone. I am fascinated by the lifestyle and untouched nature in Yellowstone, North America.
9. What is the most important tip that your children must remember?
The most important tip for my kids to remember is to always treat others with respect and stay true to their own values. By acting with respect and dignity, they build strong relationships.
10. What gift can you truly enjoy?
After all, you can enjoy a relaxing day together. I really enjoy leisure activities like clay pigeon shooting or fly fishing.
11. Where can you find an example of entrepreneurial interest in your neighborhood?
Our neighbors in the industrial estate are Carolyn Rigo of Cent Per Cent and her team. They have a passion for creating high quality, natural cosmetics.
12. Which object appears most often on the 2 or 4 chakras in your dreams?
I’m not a real car enthusiast. I want to drive a tall and comfortable car. If possible, an SUV or Jeep.
13. What task have you put off so many times that it makes people in your household nervous?
I’m very comfortable, so I don’t usually stay at home for long!
14. Which course would you like to join when you have more time?
If I have some more time, I would like to enroll in a course to get my boating license. I think it would be nice to be able to sail freely and then fish from the boat.
