But for an ever-increasing group of people who describe themselves as non-bisexual or who consciously do not want to express themselves about their gender, these pronouns are no longer sufficient. This is why Instagram is now building the possibility to choose your favorite pronouns from a long list on your profile. It will then appear next to your name on your profile, showing all of your followers how you would prefer to be addressed.
You can also choose whether to show your pronouns to every user or only to your followers. In the case of minors, they will always be shown only to their followers anyway.
If the pronouns you want are not yet in the list, you can submit a request to add additional options. Just writing an alternate option yourself isn’t possible, perhaps to avoid silly and sexist jokes.
