The Canadian women’s volleyball team has not won in 3 since being beaten by the Netherlands in Italy

“We have found our ground as a team,” hitter Hillary Howe told the volleyball world outside of Canada. “It’s been a tough week for us. We had some success last week, so we’re coming in with confidence and common sense, but now we have some close packs and some fights.

“I think we learned a lot this week to come out strong next week.”

The Canadians have not won since their VNL debut and took a 2-0 lead against Poland on Sunday. Japan finished fifth in eight games against Canada on Monday.

Canada lost the first four games before beating 2016 Olympic champions China and then Germany in Rimini, which opens in June over the current three-game slide.

Canada, ranked 14th out of 16 in 2 teams, will face eighth-placed Serbia (4-4) until Saturday, which will be broadcast live on ET at noon on CBCsportsports.com.

In Tuesday’s offense, Orange outscored Canada 44-34, were in 12-4 blocks and delivered four aces.

Howe and Andrea Mitrovic led the Canadians with nine and points, respectively.

The 15-match qualifying round runs until June 23, with the top four nations advancing to the semifinals and final.
