American startup Xebec has developed the second generation of Tri-Screen, a system that clicks two additional 10-inch screens on a laptop screen. Tri-Screen 2 now works without additional downloads and drivers, and connects via two USB ports – a cables.
The 10-inch HD IPS LCD monitors have a resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels and an aspect ratio of 16:10, with a viewing angle of 180 degrees. They are connected to a laptop via a special adapter, each of which is connected to the laptop via a USB cable. Each monitor has two USB-C inputs and one mini HDMI input for video. Both screens use 5V 2A power from the laptop.
Tri-Screen 2 is completely revised from its predecessor, which was more than a prototype. The company has been working on the model since 2018. These new monitors weigh 0.9kg and come with a built-in stand that clips onto your laptop monitor and rests on a leg at the back of the stand. For example, screens don’t need magnets or other means to stick to the side of your laptop’s home screen. The Tri-Screen 2 should fit laptops between 12 and 20 inches.
Unlike the previous model, Tri-Screen 2 does not require any additional software or drivers to operate. The model is compatible with Windows, macOS, ChromeOS, Linux and works with any device with a video output. Tri-Screen 2 is on sale in the US for $499. In addition, the buyer gets a full list of cables: two 90-degree USB-C to USB-C cables, two USB-C to USB-C adapters, two USB-C extension cables, two mini HDMI to HDMI cables and a USB-C 90 degree charging. It is not yet known whether the device will also be offered by Dutch sellers.
