New Tesla Model S Plaid suddenly catches fire: driver can barely escape the flames | abroad

The all-new Tesla Model S Plaid caught fire in Haverford, Pennsylvania. The driver of the car was briefly caught in the fire, but managed to escape without casualties. According to one of the driver’s lawyers, the car suddenly caught fire. The investigation into the cause of the fire is still underway.

It took the local fire brigade more than two hours to completely extinguish the car. Most of the car’s body and entire interior were burnt. “We are asking Tesla to keep the Model cars on the sidelines for the time being so that a thorough investigation can be conducted,” the driver’s attorney said.

New luxury style

The Tesla Model S Plaid, the car brand’s new luxury model, was only recently available to customers. For example, Tesla CEO Elon Musk announced last month that the first deliveries of the model would begin. Tesla enthusiasts will pay at least $130,000 (about 110,000 euros) for this model.

Although there is no concrete evidence that electric cars can catch fire faster than fossil fuel cars, emergency responders receive specific training to control battery fires in electric cars. For example, a fire of this type cannot be extinguished by traditional methods.

Low fire risk

Tesla has asserted in the past that its cars are “the safest in the world”. Additionally, their reports will show that fire accidents for auto-branded cars will be significantly lower than for cars powered by fossil fuels. However, the automaker has made several changes to the Model S Plaid in recent years to reduce fire risks. For example, Tesla implemented software updates in 2013 and 2016 after several reports of fire incidents in the brand’s cars.
