Jackie LaFonne was 28 years old when she became ill with Guillain-Barre disease. On TV Familie, the “Family” actress explains how she experienced a bad illness, a reaction or attack from her immune system.
After the actress had a severe headache and fever, Guillain-Barré was diagnosed in the hospital. After the diagnosis, her condition rapidly deteriorated, and she ended up staying in the hospital for four months. “It was so bad that they even planned to put such a cannula in my windpipe. Because I can hardly breathe.”
“Psychologically very below zero”
“I thought I was going to die,” Jackie admits. The doctors also didn’t know if I would ever fully recover. I ended up lying completely paralyzed and being tube-fed. Guys, when I think about it…mentally, I was also pretty bad. Because if you find yourself in such a situation, you are psychologically below zero. ”
“Honestly, I just went crazy,” she notes. “What do you want, I was completely helpless. I didn’t see any improvement either. It went very slowly. Fortunately, then, during rehab, I was given very good guidance. That rehab took about a year and a half.”
