Apple Maps is a mapping app from Apple that wants to compete with Google. However, not all jobs are available in the Netherlands. We tell you what jobs we’d like to see come to our country.
In the US, Google Maps is a great choice for navigation. The app also works in the Netherlands of course, but with Google Maps, Waze and TomTom, it has a number of strong competitors that offer more. With the functions that Apple Maps provides abroad, it can also become a great alternative in the Netherlands. But what features are we missing that already exist?
speed cameras
We have to admit that we all go really, really fast from time to time. Many people use Flash Meister in the Netherlands. Google Maps has already started showing cameras in an app. Apple Maps does this too, but not in the Netherlands. The feature is only available in Canada, Ireland, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
speed limits
Of course you pay close attention to the signals, but sometimes it is not clear how fast you should be driving. It is then useful to check the navigation to see exactly how much speed is allowed on a particular route. Many apps already offer this and Apple does this in different countries as well. Unfortunately, the Netherlands is not among them yet.
Misuse
The Netherlands is the cycling country par excellence, however Apple has yet to respond to this with our version of Maps. In fact, we have such a cycling infrastructure that we have to be the country where this feature has to be rolled out. Apple is now committed to China, California, and a number of large cities such as London and New York.

Apple’s Look Around feature is very similar to Google Streetview, but the images are often in a higher resolution.
