Mercedes-Benz launches EQS electric sedan with prices starting at 106,000 euros – picture and sound – News

Daimler has announced pricing for the EQS, the manufacturer’s upcoming all-electric top-of-the-line model. The two models of this sedan or lift start at prices of 106374 and 135,529 euros. These are suggested retail prices in Germany, including 19 percent value-added tax.

Parent company Daimler says It relates to the EQS 450+ with a power of 245 kW and the more expensive EQS 580 4MATIC with a power of 385 kW. The first version is rear-wheel drive only via a single motor, while the more expensive version has two motors driving both the front and rear axles. In Germany from the car It can be ordered from Tuesday and will be available in that country from the end of September.

EQS can be charged at up to 200 kW, which is a relatively high rate for a 400V battery system. This means that the car should be able to reach a range of up to 300 kilometers in fifteen minutes, or even 280 kilometers with the EQS 580 4MATIC. Charging from 10 to 80 percent takes 31 minutes with 200kW DC. With AC power, the EQS can charge up to 22 kW if the user chooses the optional, more powerful onboard charger. As standard, the EQS can handle 11 kW AC charging.

The EQS’s specified range will be 770 km according to the European wltp standard, although this will mainly apply to the less expensive model. The most expensive model will probably not be made, since it consumes a little more power per 100 km. Both models will have a battery with a relatively high capacity of 107.8 kWh.

The automaker confirms that the EQS will be the first Mercedes-Benz in which owners will have the option to activate entirely new functions via over-the-air updates. Once the car is out, some OTA updates are available such as a tint mode after which the car presents itself and bypasses its gear. There is also a package that introduces new sounds, new light animations after opening and closing the car, and several mini-games such as Tetris and Sudoku.

Riders also have the option to unlock hardware restrictions via software, such as improved rear axle steering. It is usually limited to a steering angle of 4.5 degrees, but it can be increased to 10 degrees. This reduces the EQS’s turning circle of over five meters to 10.9 metres. Otherwise it is 11.9 meters.

Another eye-catching addition that is standard on the EQS 580 4MATIC and costs an additional €8568 with the other model is the MBUX Hyperscreen. Consisting of three panels with a total diagonal of 56 inches, the whole spans almost the entire dashboard, giving the occupant a 12.3-inch OLED screen on which they can operate the vehicle or view entertainment.

The Mercedes EQS is 5.22 meters long, 1.93 meters wide and 1.51 meters high. The Cw for the EQS is at least 0.20 and according to Mercedes this is a record for a production car. With this, the manufacturer wants to indicate that the car has a relatively low air resistance.
