A devastating rainstorm hits the West Coast of the United States

A heavy rainstorm has been moving over the West Coast of the United States since the weekend, causing a lot of inconvenience. In California, Oregon and Washington, there are about 350,000 households without electricity. Roads were also cut off by floods and mudslides.

California, in particular, is going through a tough time. according to San Francisco Chronicle It’s the strongest storm in 26 years, and the second strongest since 1950. The state experienced a massive storm intense forest fires I have seen. More than 700,000 hectares of the nature reserve have been destroyed.

Because of the obvious cutting in burnt areas, the soil cannot hold heavy rain. This leads to floods and mudslides, and the closure of many highways. Emergency services are again working to evacuate residents from burnt areas.

In San Francisco and the capital, Sacramento, streets were flooded and electricity poles exploded. Strong winds blowing across the Golden Gate Bridge caused a ghostly sound (see video above).

On Monday, the rain front will move south toward Los Angeles. More than 25 centimeters of rain may fall in the Sierra Nevada on Monday.
