Liverpool fired like a rocket from the first blocks against Atletico Madrid. After less than fifteen minutes of play, the Reds were already 0-2 thanks to goals from Mohamed Salah and Naby Keita. But then Antoine Griezmann loosened his demons. The Frenchman scored twice in the Wanda Metropolitano. But the striker received a red card immediately after the break.
As a result, Yannick Carrasco (90 minutes on the field) and his companions entered the defensive position, but Salah broke Madrid’s belt in the 78th minute through 11 meters: 2-3.
Alexis Saelemaekers is back in the starting line-up in Milan, who was looking for the first points in the group stage after two narrow defeats. But on a visit to FC Porto, it was mainly the Portuguese who tried to score, but it did not work despite thirteen attempts. With goal number eighteen, he was still hitting in the 65th minute thanks to Luis Diaz.
Liverpool is the leader with 9 points. Atletico and Porto 4 points, Milan 0.
group C
In Amsterdam, the battle for the leadership position in the group was at stake. Ajax welcomed Borussia Dortmund, with Thomas Meunier and Axel Witsel at the base. Thorgan Hazard fell after 52 minutes, but by that time the score was 2-0 for the hosts. Marco Reus beat his goalkeeper early and Daley Blind doubled the Dutch lead. After the break, Anthony scored 3-0, having hit the crossbar, Erling Haaland. Sebastian Haller completed the party with Amsterdam’s fourth goal.
Michy Batshuayi and Besiktas had already suffered a heavy home defeat in the evening. Kyle Larrain (former Zolt Waregem) had first obliterated a goal from Sebastian Coates, but then the Uruguayan defender netted a second for Sporting Lisbon. Via Pablo Sarabia and Paulinho was another painful defeat for the Turks 1-4.
In the standings, Ajax tops 9 out of 9. Dortmund have 6 points, Sporting 3 and Besiktas 0.
group d
After being disgraced in front of their fans against the Sheriff of Tiraspol, Real Madrid had to right something with a visit to Shaktar Donetsk. And that was just a word, apparently. The royal, without Eden Hazard and with Thibaut Courtois, won 0-5 in Ukraine. Vinicius Junior scored twice, his Brazilian teammate Rodrygo and Karim Benzema scored. Shakthar defender Serhiy Krivtsov scored an own goal before the end of the first half.
Inter in Milan was not surprised by a stunt team from Moldova. Edin Dzeko beautifully scored the opening goal for the Italian champion (with an aerial shot). Sebastian Thiel equalized after the break, but Inter won 3-1 through Arturo Vidal and Stéphane de Vrij.
In the standings, Sherif and Real Madrid are leading with 6 points, Inter with 4, and Shaakther with one point.
