Alaphilippe resumes in Switzerland: “The Confluence of Circumstances” | Cycling

Julian Alfelipe was in the Sierra Nevada in May to work on his tour format. “After training at altitudes, you always have to wait and see how your body will react,” he says. “Last week it was basically comfort. There’s always been a little bit of waiting to see what that does to the legs.”

“It wouldn’t make sense for me to have to strut the first few days, but I hope to do well here. I hope to be able to show myself a few times.”

Striking: Alaphilippe ignored Dauphiné and opted for the Tour of Switzerland for the first time. “The confluence of circumstances,” he says. “This race is closer to the Tour than the Dauphiné. Now I can go straight after this race to the French Championship and then the Tour. That seems perfect to me.”

“Plus, I’ve now had more time to rest after altitude training and am also a person who loves discovering new races. I’ve never been here before, and it’s good to start here.”

“I’ve actually searched quite a bit in the road book and found some custom-made games here. Although there are still riders at the party with Michael Matthews and Matthew van der Poel and a few others who can sign up here. Depends on what the day looks like. We’ll see.”
