Dell Alienware has announced the Dual Resolution Gaming Monitor, a 27-inch 4K display that can handle 180Hz at 4K, or 360Hz at 1080p. The monitor costs €620 and will be available in Belgium from September 15 and the Netherlands.
The AW2725QF can combine four pixels into one, doubling the refresh rate to 360Hz. According to Dell, the monitor is suitable for multi-genre gamers who, for example, want to play RPGs and adventure games at higher resolutions, but want to play at a higher refresh rate for shooters and competitive games. ASUS came up with a similar concept earlier this year with a 32-inch monitor, with a refresh rate of 240Hz at 4K or 480Hz at 1080p.
Users can use a button on the Alienware to choose whether they want a higher resolution or a higher refresh rate. Additionally, the display supports 95 percent of the DCI-P3 color gamut, there’s Dolby Vision and VESA DisplayHDR 600 certification, and the display can handle Nvidia G-SYNC and VESA AdaptiveSync. The gray-to-gray time is 0.5ms and the typical maximum brightness is 400cd/m². The IPS display features edge-lit and a contrast ratio of 1000:1. The Alienware has two HDMI 2.1 ports and a DisplayPort 1.4 connection.
