The joy of reaching the final was short-lived for Alvaro Morata. The Spanish striker was injured in an unfortunate incident during the celebrations afterwards. When a member of the national team tried to tackle a striker on the field, he slipped on Morata’s ankle. He then limped into the catacombs with a painful grimace. Is his finals in danger? Watch the moment in question below.
Spain will be hoping that the injury to their captain is not too serious. Alvaro Morata immediately sensed that something was wrong and disappeared into the dressing room.
Shame on a dream evening for the Spaniards then. Should the striker go through to the final?
Coach Luis de la Fuente was then asked about Morata’s condition: “We have to wait and see and we will see tomorrow (Wednesday, ed.). We think it’s nothing, but it hurts.”
The striker himself also follows this type of thinking. This morning he got on the bus, where a journalist from Marca asked him about it. Morata indicated that it was nothing serious.
Remarkably, the Spanish captain thanked the employee for his intervention. So no grudge over the minor injury. De la Fuente agrees: “That’s exactly what characterizes Morata, a beautiful person.”
